Trevi Fountain | Rome

A farewell is not forever in Rome! According to ancient rites, to lighten the farewell of its guests from the Neverending City, it would have been necessary to throw a coin, closed eyes, into the Trevi Fountain … and it still works!
The history of the Trevi Fountain is closely linked to that of the restoration of the Aqua Vergine, the Roman aqueduct, long almost 20km, which ending point was near a crossroad (“Treio” in medieval time, word largely credited to be at the origin of the name). A fountain was built there, but it took centuries and many among the greatest Italian artists as Master Bernini, the sculptor Bracci, and finally the architect Salvi, to complete this unique, marvelous, imposing masterpiece: La Fontana di Trevi! The theme of the whole fountain is the sea. Right in the centre is the statue of the god Ocean on a shell-shaped chariot pulled by two winged horses: the agitated one signifying rough sea, the placid one symbolizing the calm sea.
And because water is life and enjoyment, The Roman Dolce Vita started from here.

Wonderful hotel in central Rome

“My wife and I love annually staying at Hotel Barocco. The rooms, staff, and breakfast are first class. It is very conveniently located near to the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese, and many other wonders of Rome. It is on Piazza Barberini and the photo, taken from its entrance, shows Bernini’s Triton Fountain in the piazza.”
