The fountain is made of travertine and bears two coats of arms of the Barberini family set between the tails of the four dolphins supporting the triton.
Another interesting work is the Fountain of the Bees, an insect symbolic of the Barberini family, located at the corner of Via Veneto.
Overlooking Piazza Barberini is the Palace of the same name, erected between 1625 and 1633 in the Baroque style.
Today it is home to the National Gallery of Ancient Art and the Italian Institute of Numismatics.
